Hi Beauties! At Cre8 Salon & Spa we LOVE engagements & weddings! Getting engaged, is one of the most exciting and memorable moments of a women’s life. As soon as the initial excitement dies down, you’re hit with exciting and daunting task of planning your wedding.
We have cre8ted a 10 step list for planning your wedding.
1. Set a budget
The first step is to decide how much you are able to spend on your wedding. It’s best to have this number in your mind before you start researching for dresses, venues and all the items in between. Discuss your budget with your family members and close friends and find out who will be contributing to your big day and hw much they want to contribute. This will give you your actual budget for your big day!
2. Choose 2-3 possible dates
Try not to set your sights on a specific date. Think about what season you prefer, holidays, vacation time from work and the weather. Once a general time of the year is decided upon, choose 2-3 dates you prefer. This will help later on when you find your perfect venue and have more options for the wedding date. Some venues book up to two years in advance so the sooner the better!
3. Start your guest list
The guest list is a very important and difficult part of the wedding planning process. This is when your budget will come into play. The more people you invite, the more you will have to spend. Starting your guest list and knowing your estimated maximum guest attending early on is vital.
4. Decide on your wedding’s style
Here comes the fun part! We have discussed wedding styles in a previous wedding wednesday post and love how many there are to choose from! Some examples include retro, bohemian and classic. Your wedding’s style will consist of all the decor and details. Before you start planning every detail, decide on the general look and feel you want on your wedding day.
5. Decide on your venue
The next big step is to choose a venue. When you have found one that you like, contact them and find out what dates they have available. If they have one or more of your dates available, schedule a tour. Give yourself 1-3 weeks to tour all of your possibilities, compare pricing, envision your wedding there (or not), and then book your venue!
First and foremost, you should consider hiring a wedding planner for your wedding. They will offer you wonderful suggestions and save you ALOT of time and frustration.
Researching potential vendors is very important! There are so many amazing wedding professionals and you want time to be able to choose the right ones for you. You definitely don’t want to be rushed, but at the same time, time is of the essence.
When researching, pay special attention to the portfolio, bio, and pricing.
The types of vendors to research on include:
- Event Decor
- Hair & Makeup – We hear Cre8 Salon & Spa offers wonderful wedding packages. 🙂
- Tux Rentals
Part 2 of Research is…
This is probably the most emotional and exciting part of planning your wedding. Pinterest is a great resource for finding your perfect dress style. Also buy a few wedding catalogues and then check out your local bridal shops.
7. Inquire With and Interview Vendors
So by now you’ve done your research and you know what vendors you like. When contacting your vendors, find out if they’re available for your date, ask about their pricing, and schedule a consultation. The vendors will get to know you, you’ll get to know them, you’ll get down to business, and then you let them know in a few days if you want to hire them or not! You should meet with up to three of each type of vendor- one if you already absolutely love them and they sell you right away, two if you’re pretty set but want to know other options, and three if you’re not sure. It just really depends on you, your decision making skills, and your taste.
8. Hire Your Vendors
Of course the next step is to hire your favorite! After your consultations, try to let vendors know your decision a week or two from when they provide you with an estimate/proposal. And then hooray! You’re one step closer to your wedding day!
9. WEDDING DRESS!
Alright, so you have some of your vendors booked now it’s time to take a break and go wedding dress shopping!
10: Design & Detail Inspiration
Remember back in the first 5 steps when I had you decide on your wedding style? When selecting the rest of your vendors, consider which wedding style you have chosen. I’m sure many of you have probably already started “pinning” away ideas for your dream wedding on Pinterest. Take these ideas along with others found along the way and present them to your vendors so they know what type of style you are going for.
