More than 12,000 wedding gowns have been donated to military brides over about the last five years thanks to Brides Across America.
Last year, more than 2013 bridal salons in more than 40 states participated in the program. This year, there are even more.
There are a few Florida bridal salons that participate. This week, Charlotte Bridal in Port Charlotte is giving away gowns to deserving military brides. The bridal shop started yesterday and will conclude the event tomorrow. Charlotte Bridal posted on their Facebook page when they had their first military bride receive her gown.
We get just as excited as the brides do,” said Teri Nelson, a clerk at the shop. She said they participate every year because owners Lynn and Ted Atkins “are very pro military and do everything they can for the military. They are very patriotic.”
Planning a wedding involves a great deal of time and money. It can be difficult to do any planning if you or your soon-to-be spouse (or both of you) are currently serving and are stationed elsewhere. There may be a limited time to have the ceremony. Having someone provide the dress is one less worry on a bride’s mind. Brides Across America hopes they can help brides’ dreams come true by helping them get the perfect dress.
Brides must register for the gown giveaway events for July and November. If you know someone who would like to participate in the program or to get more information, visit bridesacrossamerica.com.

At Cre8 Salon & Spa, we support our military families. This is a great way to help brides have their dream wedding. We also enjoy helping military brides have their perfect day.
