Wedding Wednesday: George Clooney wedding a private affair

People George Clooney weddingCelebrity weddings attract a great deal of attention, prompting many famous couples to take significant measures to keep their nuptials private. The George Clooney wedding to Amal Alamuddin, a British human rights lawyer, was no exception.

People magazine managed to get the exclusive scoop. Several reports say that the couple plans to donate the money they receive for their photos to charity. That’s a classy move.

Although there were all sorts of speculation about how much the couple spent on the wedding, People reported it was about $1.5M. Some might say that’s a modest amount considering Clooney’s star status and the amount many other celebrity couples spend on their weddings.

About 100 of the couples’ family and friends attended the Sept. 27 wedding in Venice at the historic Aman Canal Grande hotel. Former Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni presided over the ceremony.

People magazine had full exclusive coverage and 26 bonus photos from inside the ceremony in its digital edition. To check out the photos, you have to subscribe. It would be interesting to see how many people subscribed to get this exclusive content.

There were reports that the couple took strict precautions to make sure photos from the guests didn’t get shared with the press.

Read the People coverage and see the photos.
